Before I decided to take on the world of architecture, I had to explore my love for landscaping. I remember getting a phone call from Johannesburg and having the interview over the phone. After a week , I packed my things and moved to Randburg in 2015. The Lifestyle College Landscape course was a mixed journey of design, history and botany.
The course was structured similarly to the architecture syllabus, we were given a brief and had to create a design that would work within the specification.
After 12 months of studies we were split into groups of 3 and we were given a space of about 15 sqm. Each group was given a design brief that they had to bring to life. After a month of hard work the gardens were exhibited to the public at the grand opening.
After a few months of exhibition, the designs were broken down and the next group of students started building their final designs. Every year magazines like the Garden & Home and The Gardener features one of the gardens.
I have to give credit to landscaping for unleashing the creativity that drives me to this day.
